Electrical Engineering
Why study electrical engineering?
Electricity plays a key role in mitigating global climate change. Renewable energy, the global revolution in energy production, and the need to increase the efficiency of energy use provide electrical engineering professionals with jobs now and in the future.
Electrical engineering is for you if you are not afraid of challenges, are interested in how things work, and look forward to being part of the energy transition. As an expert in electrical engineering, you will have an opportunity to be part of the technological revolution leading to an electrified future.
How will you learn?
Most of your studies take place on campus during weekdays. Occasional online courses, as well as courses combining online and on-campus teaching, provide variety and flexibility to your study methods and schedule.
Your studies include
- theoretical lectures
- exercise sessions
- company visits
- projects
- individual and group assignments
- extensive laboratory work
What will you learn?
In this bachelor's programme, you will learn to apply your skills to advance the electrification of society. Through modern technology, solar energy can be used to produce fuel, and various electronic applications can be used to improve overall quality of life. In addition, digitalisation and the Energy Internet create new opportunities for utilising the electricity grid. The programme’s focus areas align with the skills required in the working world.
Your studies will emphasise energy efficiency and the production and use of clean energy. You will gain a deep understanding of emerging technologies, such as smart grids, wind and solar energy, electrical machinery, and automation and power electronics. You will develop an excellent understanding of the phenomena related to electricity and the operating principles of electrical engineering and electronics.
By the end of the programme, you will be able to solve problems by applying core skills and methods in mathematics and science. You will be aware of the essential laws of physics and be able to apply them to various physical processes, understand physical phenomena and be able to solve problems related to them, describe simple dynamics systems using continuous time differential equations and simulate them, and use digital environments in the practical application of the methods.
