Chemistry
The Master in Applied Molecular Sciences consists of 6 modules. These modules enrich your knowledge of organic and sustainable chemistry, and data analysis, to name a few. Also, you learn to plan and execute chemistry projects in various phases of applied research and product development. Parts of the curriculum are carried out at the internship placement.
Chemistry in a nutshell
The master track Chemistry is a challenging 2-year program in full-time. It consists of 6 modules and includes an extensive internship.
Modules 1-3 cover all the different aspects of applied research and product development in the chemistry sector. Modules 4-6 focus on research and managing projects. These form part of your internship. During this internship, you learn to take scientific and project management responsibilities of your own project. To achieve this level of independence, you need to have good practical skills and experience in research from the beginning.
In the first 1.5 years you work as an intern for 3 days a week. Next to that you attend classes 1 day a week (Mondays during working hours) and study 1 day a week by yourself. In the final half year, your internship increases to 5 days a week.
- IELTS
- TOEFL
You need to have one of the following:
- Bachelor of Applied Sciences in a life sciences or chemistry discipline, or Higher Laboratory Education
- Bachelor of Science in a life sciences or chemistry discipline
- Another diploma (e.g. technicians diploma from Germany) but you have developed to bachelor level, e.g. through work experience. Your qualifications at bachelor level will be tested during an assessment procedure. Click on the link below for the assessment procedure.

Therefore, you must have worked in lab research projects for at least 5 months. You need to demonstrate your experience in the design and execution of experiments and analysis of data, during or after your bachelor education program. For that reason, we ask for proof of your lab research by providing a thesis.
Our graduates find work in the biotech industry and research institutes. With this degree, you have profound knowledge of chemistry. And you have the skills to effectively manage projects. This mix of science and organizational skills makes you an ideal candidate for the following positions:
Project leader: As a Project Leader, you manage projects of at least 3 to 4 months. You communicate with colleagues to ensure the project runs smoothly. And you communicate with management and representatives of other departments on aspects like quality assurance, industry guidelines, statistics, patents and financial issues.
