I never planned to study in my home country. I had always imagined myself living and studying somewhere else, and Denmark felt like the right choice because its culture and way of life matched many of my personal values.
The admission process was quite simple, although I experienced some stress when I almost missed a deadline because of several documents.
Fortunately, I applied through Kastu, so my main responsibility was to collect and provide everything that was required. The team guided me through the process and answered every question I had — even the unusual ones.
Knowing that I could always ask for help made the application much easier and less stressful.
Before moving abroad, I expected the entire experience to be much more difficult. In reality, studying in another country turned out to be far more manageable than I had imagined.
Of course, you need time to adapt, organise your life, and become comfortable in a new environment. But once you settle in, many of the things that initially seemed frightening simply become part of everyday life.
What I enjoy most is the entire atmosphere around me: the people, houses, streets, shops, entertainment, and general lifestyle.
It is not only the university that creates the experience. It is the feeling of building a completely new life in a place you genuinely enjoy.
One of the more difficult aspects is the Danish language. You can manage your studies and many everyday situations in English, but finding a good job may be harder without speaking Danish.
For that reason, learning at least the basics of the local language can create more opportunities and help you feel more connected to the country.
It is also important to arrive with some savings. Having a financial reserve gives you time to settle in, search for work without panic, and adapt to your new routine.
My advice to anyone considering studying abroad is simple: when you have at least some savings and a genuine desire to go, do not hesitate too much.
Studying abroad is not as impossible or frightening as it may seem from home. You become more independent, discover a different way of life, and gain experiences that would be difficult to find by staying in the same familiar environment.
For me, Denmark became much more than a place to study. It became a country where I enjoy the lifestyle, the surroundings, and the person I am becoming.
