​​​Are you a professional musician with a goal? Do you have a specific vision of your future? Then the Master of Music at the Prince Claus Conservatoire could be the suitable study to achieve your personal goals. The Prince Claus Conservatoire is internationally known as an innovative institute of high quality with a large regional and international network. The Master of Music at the Prince Claus Conservatoire is there for ambitious musicians who want to develop themselves in a self-chosen direction.

Classical Music

The study route Classical Music is aimed at students who are ambitious, have a high level of playing, are curious and who want to work hard to become a top musician. Every year you take part in big projects such as the Hanze Symphony Orchestra, the string orchestra or any kind of ensemble. There is also the possibility for an internship at the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, the Johan Willem Friso Royal Military Band, the National Travelling Opera, etc. 

You choose your own study subject which means that you determine yourself what and how you want to study with us. We call this your study plan. From your personal study plan you work towards the final exam; the lecture recital. We give you the space to realise your ambitions, ideas and goals. You are free to present your lecture recital in any way depending on your own interests, competences and qualities. Of course you are taught by our own renowned teachers. Additionally you work together with international guest teachers during several periods during the years. Ensemble and orchestra performances are a crucial part of the masters programme. From your own playing you have the opportunity to experiment with chamber Music, you deepen your playing skills during the Intensive Master Weeks or you can research your own musical practice. You can choose different optional modules within the Open Credits. You choose these based on your personal goals and competences and fitting your study plan. The complete study programme is aimed at further development of a curious and innovative professional attitude, which helps you to react more focused on the developments within and outside of the professional field.

Wymagania rekrutacyjne

Na studia magisterskie mogą kandydować wszyscy, którzy ukończyli studia licencjackie lub inżynierskie (studia I stopnia), studia magisterskie lub studiują na ostatnim roku studiów I-stopnia. Studia, które planujesz powinny mieć zbliżony profil do tych obecnych lub ukończonych, ponieważ w procesie rekrutacji kluczowa jest ich zgodność programowa.

  • Wykaz punktów ECTS – osoby, które są jeszcze w trakcie studiów, muszą załączyć wypis punktów ECTS, w którym będzie wykazane, jakie przedmioty były realizowane na studiach oraz ile punktów za nie otrzymano.
  • Dyplom ukończenia studiów licencjackich lub inżynierskich – jeśli jesteś absolwentem wyższej uczelni, nie potrzebujesz wypisu, wystarczy załączyć dyplom ukończenia studiów wraz z suplementem (w języku angielskim lub oryginał z tłumaczeniem)
Wymagania odnośnie języka angielskiego

Spełnienie wymagań w zakresie języka angielskiego można udokumentować w następujący sposób:

Należy przesłać certyfikat znajomości języka angielskiego z minimalnym wynikiem IELTS 6.0 bez wyników poniżej 6.0 (lub odpowiednikiem w porównywalnych testach językowych, takich jak TOEFL, Cambridge ESOL itp.)

Ważne wymagania
  1. CV (max. 2 pages in PDF format) with everything you usually write down in such a document.
  2. Study plan: Describe your ideal career as a musician and the way you want to approach it during your study. The study plan (max 2 pages in PDF format) is the thread that ties your plans to the requirements of our Master programme and to your future career. It makes your personal, flexible study path explicit and serves as a basis for a discussion of your learning objectives. 
  3. Pre-selection
    For these instrument we have a pre-selection prior to the auditions:
    - Classical Music: violin, vocals and piano
    - New York Jazz: all instruments 
    For this pre-selection we ask that you upload 3 YouTube videos of you playing different pieces in different styles. This may be the same pieces you want to play at the audition. Next to these videos of you playing, you need to upload a video of you introducing yourself (max. 2 minutes). Note that all videos have to be recorded recently and we need you to be recognizable. Two weeks prior to the date of the auditions you will receive an e-mail informing you whether you have passed the pre-selection and will be invited for your audition.

After you graduate you can find a job as a musician in a symphonic orchestra or chamber music ensemble, in (one of Holland’s) military ensembles or in a (chamber) choir. Many musicians combine different musical activities.  Some even make it to the international concert stage as a soloist. Where ever the future will bring you, we provide all the tools you need to become an independent, entrepreneurial and curious professional.
