A Bachelor of Hospitality Management knows how to turn food into a dining experience while considering the needs of customers.
After graduating as a professional in the food services, you know how to create a memorable taste experience for diners, manage the nutritional and hygiene quality of the products, manage service processes, and how to run successful and sustainable business operations.
SEAMK’s Bachelor of Hospitality Management students can use the educational restaurant Prikka, where theory can be combined into practice. Your studies include also work-related development tasks in which your able see how theories are tested in real life situations.
The 210 ECTS credit programme is designed for studies lasting 3.5-4 years, entire programme can be divided into following themes:
First year: Service production
In addition to the basic studies, in the first year students learn the theory related to food preparation and customer and tourism service, which is applied at the educational restaurant Prikka.
Second year: Service business management
Second year studies cover topics such as Business and Operational Management, Quality Management, Management accounting, Employment Law, Marketing and Nutrition. In addition to compulsory courses, you can select your focus area from optional professional studies and free elective courses.
Third and fourth year: Development & specialisation
Year consists mainly of research and development projects which are conducted together with local companies and other organisations. We have conducted projects with local hotels and restaurants, Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas UNESCO global Geopark, public food services and food manufacturers. Themes of the projects may vary yearly. Common topics in projects are strategic management, kitchen and interior design, service design and nutritional projects for public food services.

Students who have graduated from SEAMK will find employment in both expert and managerial positions. Many of our hospitality graduates have also started their own business. Their employment has been supported by a diverse range of studies and an entrepreneurial spirit.
The most common sources of employment are managerial positions and expert tasks in restaurants, staff restaurants and public sector kitchens (e.g. schools and hospitals). In addition, a variety of companies related to the industry such as staff leasing, the tourism and experience industry are increasingly employing our graduates.
