The studies are in Haaga-Helia’s truly international environment in Helsinki and in one’s chosen exchange destinations abroad, where networks are built, and cultural intelligence is gained. Upon graduation, students have the skills to manage business ethically, responsibly, and sustainably.
The Majors offered in the International Business programme are:
International Business students complete 70 ECTS of Professional Competence courses, which include a minimum of 30 ECTS in their chosen Major. The Majors offered both as daytime and evening courses are Accounting and Finance & Marketing and Sales. Supply Chain Management courses are mainly offered as daytime teaching, and People Management courses are mainly offered as evening teaching. Personal study paths can be tailored flexibly as the Professional Competence courses complementing the student’s Major can be chosen from different Majors and other Haaga-Helia degrees. The thesis is written in the field of the Major.
A variety of language studies are offered in the degree. The degree offers excellent opportunities for networking and benefiting from cross-cultural collaboration. All students are encouraged to include exchange studies or work placement abroad in their degree; a requirement of students with a Finnish educational background in the full-time degree.
The blended studies are taught in the evenings. They are implemented partially on campus (2-3 evenings weekly) and partially online and are intended for students with prior work experience. The whole degree cannot be completed online.
The assessment criterias for the motivation letter are 1) Motivation, 2 ) Language, 3) Aptitude
Points received from the motivation letter are not used in the final student selection, but those can affect to the invitation to the interview.
Applicants will be invited for an interview based on work experience points. Three times the number of applicants (105) compared to the new study places (35) will be invited. If there is more than 105 eligible applicants, applicants will be invited to the interview on the basis of motivation letter.
The interview assesses the applicant's English language skills, suitability and motivation for the studies. The interview is held based on the materials provided.
Interview will be held in Pasila campus during 16 March - 19 March and 23 March - 26. March 2026. Applicant needs to assure in the application form that he/she can be present in Pasila campus if invited to the interview. Each applicant needs to attend the the interview only during one day.
Calculation of points awarded for work experience will only take account of work experience obtained at or after the age of 18 and accumulated no later than 31 July 2026. Two months of general (not necessarily field-specific) full-time work experience equates to one point.
Applicants must be able to substantiate the amount of their work experience with employment certificates. An employment certificate must indicate details such as the exact start and end dates of employment, the employer’s contact information, work duties, as well as working hours for part-time work.
In addition, an applicant must submit a copy of his or her work certificate translated into Finnish, Swedish or English by an official (authorised) translator, if the original document is in none of these languages. The translation must be signed and stamped by the translator.
