Will your future involve designing the variable message signs above our motorways, an innovative electric motorcycle, and smart public transport access gates to make our transport systems easier to use? Or how about a self-piloting drone? With a higher education degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering the world is your oyster!

In Electrical and Electronic Engineering you'll learn how to design microelectronics. This includes deploying printed circuit boards, chips, and batteries for devices you use every day. You will also familiarise yourself with sustainable energy, automation and hardware and learn how to program hardware. The programme offers you many practical modules and projects.

In Electrical and Electronic Engineering you will learn how to develop, build and test technical solutions for a wide variety of problems. Besides basic technical knowledge, you will follow modules in math, analog and digital electronics and programming. You will work in project teams and learn how to go through a development process. Learning to work in teams, communicate, present, report and demonstrate are essential elements and you will learn to put the acquired knowledge into practice.

In the first year you get a solid foundation in mathematics and learn about networking, analogue electronics, digital electronics, and programming. You will put this knowledge to good use as you work on various projects. Among other things, you will make a safe with an electronic code lock and a self-driving, energy-efficient robotic racing car. All the projects are controlled with C, running on the popular Arduino microcontroller.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering has two specialisations:
  • Electrical Information Engineering (EIE). You will learn all about microelectronics and the link to the ‘real world’ with sensors. You will also learn techniques for making chips work properly, how to program chips, and about wireless communication.
  • Electrical Engineering for Energy Transition (EEET).  How do you make electrical energy available to people as sustainably as possible? This includes the smart use of wind turbines and solar farms as well as the range of the electric car or solutions in Industrial Automation.
Wymagania rekrutacyjne

As an electrical engineer you can work anywhere. At SMEs or multinationals, in the manufacturing industry, or at development companies. For example, you will be qualified to work as a programmer of software operating systems, as a consultant at an engineering firm, or as a designer of electronics for a radar system. Or you can focus on research, development, and design. Do you have international ambitions? With your degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering you can work worldwide.

  • Electronics technician
You are responsible for the electrical/electronic systems in a factory. You oversee the maintenance of the installation and ensure it stays in perfect working order.
  • Renewable energy consultant
You work for an engineering firm or electricity distribution company, for example. You research or design the means by which a solar energy farm is connected to the existing network, for example.
  • Test engineer / Quality manager
You develop a test system for the industry, to test whether the drive system of an electric car functions properly for example. Or you develop a test system for online remote monitoring of a wind farm. There are a great many possibilities for the development of test systems, because practically every product is so complex that it can only be tested with a custom-made programmable test system.
  • Embedded hardware/software engineer
You design, build, program, and test microelectronics. If your idea works, you prepare it for mass production.
